2 Cor. 4:5 - "For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord." Union Valley Baptist Church is the place where the way of Salvation is proclaimed. If you were to die today are you 100% sure that you would go to heaven? If you answered anything but yes, please take a few moments to read the following so that you may know for sure.
One Theme thru out the Bible is that of Salvation. The Old Testament spoke and showed Salvation. The book of Isaiah is one that is used alot to bring people to a Saving Knowledge of Jesus. The redemption of the Israelites land / possessions. But Here I want to give a condensed, quick look look at what the Bible says on getting to heaven. We will be mostly looking at the New Testament book called Romans.
1. Rom. 6:23 - "The wages of sin is death.." - Wages here is what we think of in our everyday life - that which we will recieve based on what we do. This verse says that our wages is based upon what? - our sin. What is it that we get when we sin? - death (ref. Gen. 3). Death here is two parts, physical and spiritual. Physical death is just that - dead, heart stops and all that. Spiritual death is separation from God in HELL. (ref. Rev. 20:14+15) Note: What is Sin? - 1 John 5:17 - All unrighteousness is Sin... Anything that is not right in God's sight is sin, also not doing what God says to do in Sin.
2. WHO HAS SINNED? - Rom. 3:23 - "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
3. HOW IS SIN TAKEN AWAY? 1 John 1:7 - "..the blood of Jesus Christ God's Son cleanseth us from all sin." Rom. 5:8 - "But God commendeth (showed) His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.
4. HOW CAN I BE SAVED? - Rom. 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Acts 16:31 - "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.." Rom. 10:9 - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
If you believe these 4 points from God's word and are willing to accept Christ's gift of eternal salvation then pray to God asking for His gift, like this-"I know I have SINNED against you. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. To the best of my ability I here and now trust Him to save me.
In Romans 10:13 it says "for whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved." It doens't say maybe or might be but shall. You can rest assured that when you Trust Christ for your salvation, you are saved and heaven bound. Memorize this verse for comfort in the future.
I suggest, if you have trusted Christ for your Salvation, that you read the Gospel of John. It was written to newly saved people. Just read 3 chapters a day, and read it for a whole month.
Chick Publications has an illustrated tract on line, it may help in understanding the Good News of the Gospel
